A tooth extraction is a procedure to remove a tooth or teeth from the gum socket. In some cases, you may be prescribed antibiotics to take before the extraction can take place. During the procedure you will get a local anesthetic to numb the area, the tooth will be loosened in the gum, and then forceps will be placed around the tooth, and Dr. Wolff will pull the tooth out from the gum. After the tooth is removed, Dr. Wolff will clean out the gum socket and smooth out the bone that is left. The gum may need to be closed with one or more sutures. You will be asked to bite down on a piece of gauze to stop the bleeding.
